//memories
I once wished upon a shooting star
hoping it would fly far, far enough to reach the galaxy
that sat above you, the heavens of your thoughts
and the core of your very heart
I wished that one day Id be able to see you
wished that somehow, everything would work out.
I hoped that my words would fill your dreams and somehow
somehow youd know it was me who whispered them.
that shooting star must have caught your soul on fire
must have filled your heart with the same desire
that I had burning inside of me. because you told me
those words that I had wanted to hear for so long.
my shooting star went farther than that
it carried me to the eastern shores of your home
and I was finally able to fall in your arms for the first time
finally able to drown in your eyes and never reach the surface
my shooting star let my fingers clasp yours
and let us stand together at the frigid shores of Maine
it let us climb the tallest mountain, and fall down the farthest cliff
into ecstasy that I never knew existed.
my shooting star reminded me that hope was never gone
it had been my motivation that was on vacation all along
it showed me that the word forever was just as true
as those simple words that mean so much: I love you.
my shooting star gave me love for Christmas
Just like I had asked
my shooting star had given me
what I had thought would never last.
my shooting star gave me memories
memories of perfection
memories of redemption
memories of anticipation
anticipation for the future
anticipation for forever
forever and ever with you.
